Some styles of furniture, like fashion, are timeless classics. From the graceful curves of a Queen Anne chair with clean lines and practices of an Empire cabinet, there are styles of furniture for fit virtually every taste and lifestyle. If you wouldn t know a car ™ € Louis XVI of a Shaker rocker, donâ € ™ t despair. There is no right or wrong when it comes to selecting a particular style. Whata € ™ s more important is the style that is most enjoyable. You may be surprised to discover that the exploration of classic furniture styles can be an exciting adventure in world history, politics and social change. The following are just A sample of popular furniture styles expressed in today € ™ s homes.
William and Mary:
This simple and comfortable style was developed under the reign of two monarchs. Its features include padding, cabinets and foot arc changed. Walnut was often very great in this style of furniture.
Queen Anne:
Developed over what is known as the Age of Walnut, Queen Anne furniture is best known for the grace S-shaped cabriole leg. Considered by many as one of the finest furniture styles, Queen Anne ornaments limited features, such as the scalloped shell motif.
Shaker:
The Shakers, a society with religious communities in various places ranging from New York to New England and throughout the Midwest, produced furniture is characterized by a desire utility, economy and efficiency without sacrificing quality. The result is an impeccable style and relatively unadorned, as shown alongside others, appears sparse and institutional.
Chippendale:
This was the first furniture style to be named in honor of a craftsman. Cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale combined many influences in their work, including Chinese. His style is known for its ball and claw foot cabriole legs and elaborately Carved Wood.
Victoriana:
Victorian is not really a unique style, but an eclectic collection influenced by English, French and Chinese designs developed during the long reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). And plush overstuffed chairs, carved dark woods and rich finishes are some of the hallmarks of Victorian furniture.
Jacobean:
The first piece, which dates from the mid 17th century, is known as Jacobean or, more popularly, Pilgrim furniture. It is characterized by heavy leg twists and axes, or halved and applied to a surface for decoration.
This style also features the development of relief carving, usually a geometric and floral accented with moldings often implement the zones are divided into geometric shapes. The wood is usually of oak or pine, and painted decoration was popular.
Traditional French
Four kings served as the dominant influence on the traditional French furniture. These include:
Louis XIV:
This period featured very ornate furniture and massive, but their lines are straight and often rectangular. The pieces were richly carved and painted in bright colors. This period presents the first fully upholstered chair and sofa.
Louis XV:
Although lavish and extravagant, this furniture is much smaller in scale than their predecessors. Curves replaced the severe lines of Louis XIV furniture, and special attention was paid to the comfort and appearance. This style also inspired by a country look leaner, known as French provincial.
Louis XVI:
A less entertaining, furniture style dimmer, Luise XVI features classic clean lines and is mostly unadorned and sculptures. His appearance was greatly influenced by a growing interest at the time of Greek and Roman classical designs, asked about the discovery of the ruins of Pompeii.
American Tradition:
Evolving since the 18th century, American traditional furniture style is less defined by a combination of influences. Today it is more formal in appearance than the previous, more primitive designs of the colonial and early American culture. We adapted traditional French and English styles (such as Chippendale and Empire) to create a unique look American classic. Most of the original designs were crafted traditional American Philadelphia and New England.
Duncan Phyfe:
Evolving from the traditions and forms of federal loans Regency English, Duncan Phyfe – a woodworker based in New York during the 19th century – created a distinctive style that can truly be called America.
Contemporary:
Mainly influenced by the works of architects and designers, contemporary / modern furniture has its roots in the Bauhaus school of art radically Progressive was founded in Germany in 1919. Students at the Bauhaus had their roots in the philosophy that form follows â € ~ functionA € ™ â € "and have developed styles of furniture that could be immediately recognized by its simple, clean, geometric lines that emphasized the convenience and utility.

'Country A € ™ does not refer to a particular design period, but more While furniture is the expression in everyday life.
